Stephen Lawrence: 27 Years and Counting

by Harry Scupham

This is my personal tribute to Stephen Lawrence. The Lily, which is widely known for purifying a person who has reached heaven, with its very strong architectural lines, is used here as a symbol and link to his memory. It symbolises all the innocent people lost to senseless racism. I wanted to start with the lifeless flower and then show growth and strength since, after everything they lost, the Lawrence family helped to raise awareness of racism in the UK and the world.
