'Don't put me in a box' by Levina de Bie-Vyner

ree

I'm not a label

I am not a word

I cannot be contained

four walls, forwards backwards inwards

different methods the meaning the same

skirts or trousers, hair short or long

try to understand if you can

different melodies still sing the same song

don't put me in a box be it metal or wood

be it naivety, lack of empathy or just misunderstood

for these hands can bare the core leaving raw the web of words unsaid, leaving a mess of distress, dying then dead

fractured metal and torn wood make good work on the shackles on society, leaving behind the propriety of stolen lives

are your words condescending just pretending to hurt

or are you knowing ever -growing in the power that you spurt

don't put me in a box

for I am not a trend nor a statistic that you sadistically bend

don't put me in a box

for I'm not some money making machine

knuckles bleeding needing friction with conviction to break apart these walls unseen

don't put me in a box nor any other constraints

for I am love

for I am fear

for I am pain

don't put me in a box no matter how well hidden

for I am free

I am bright

and I am infinite
